Whose ethics? Politics and moral dilemmas of social research in Eastern Europe and beyond - 3rd CEELBAS Postgraduate Research Ethics Workshop

Ethical considerations are an important and intrinsic element of any research design. This forthcoming event will continue the discussion, started with the first two CEELBAS research ethics workshops at UCL in 2009 andf 2010, of the practical issues and ethical dilemmas which researchers face while working in Central and Eastern Europe. At the same time, participants at this workshop will be invited to engage in a more critical discussion of the seemingly universal notion of research ethics. By situating the debate within a particular regional context (Central and Eastern Europe) and historical moment (the decades which have followed the collapse of the socialist state system there) the discussion aims to put under scrutiny research ethics principles and practices as part of the politics of knowledge production.
