Coverage of CEELBAS Expertise in UK Russian-Language Press
Following a strategic partnership between CEELBAS and The Russian Media House publishing company, a series of articles covering the expertise of CEELBAS partners will be appearing in UK Russian-language magazines.

Russian Émigré Writing
In this article Dr Maria Rubins of SSEES UCL presented her research on Russian Émigré Prose, discussing the various cultural-linguistic complexities faced by bilingual Russian émigré writers past and present, and their difficulties gaining recognition and acceptance whilst working within a foreign literary milieu. With particular reference to Russian émigré publications in interwar France, Dr Rubins described her work as an editor and publisher of these rare and often long out-of-print texts, highlighting the orthographic and technical challenges of such work. Prof. Vera Tolz (University of Manchester) in 'Pulse UK', November 2011:
Russian Television

Professor Tolz discusses the role and influence of TV in today's Russia, and also considers developments in Russian academia since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Professor Tolz's research interests include oriental studies and national identity in Russia, nationalism and ethnic politics in modern and contemporary Russia, and intellectuals and political power under the communist regime. She is currently Co-Investigator on the AHRC-funded project Mediating post-Soviet difference: an analysis of Russian television representation of inter-ethnic cohesion issues.

In this interview Dr Yemelianova discusses Islam in contemporary Russia and the Russian regions. Dr Yemelianova specialises in historical and contemporary ethno-political and religious developments in Central Asia, the Caucasus and Muslim regions of the Russian Federation, and is lead partner in the University of Birmingham's British Council-funded project with the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) on Innovative Teaching and Research through Academic Partnership.
