International Research Visits, 2012-13

Eric Gordy, Bojan Aleksov and Armanda Kodra Hysa (UCL SSEES) to the Central European University (Budapest), Institute for Advanced Study (February 2013):

To organise of a series of panels and presentations featuring research by academics and doctoral students of the two universities; to generate ideas and suggestions for potential joint research proposals.

Madeleine Reeves (University of Manchester) to the Aigine Cultural Research Centre, Kyrgyzstan (April 2013):

To conceptualise and develop of a Collaborative Research Grant proposal and promote discussion of broader collaboration in research, training and the internationalisation of Anthropology in Kyrgyzstan.

Elena Korosteleva (University of Kent) to the Belarusian State University (May 2013):

To develop plans for strategic collaboration between BSU and the University of Kent - including an EU funding proposal, a forthcoming series of joint events, and user engagement with the British Embassy and the EU Member States' Missions in Belarus.

Chris Gerry (UCL SSEES) to HSE Moscow (May 2013):

To build on cooperation between UCL and HSE in interdisciplinary research on health and wellbeing by convening a Joint Doctoral Workshop and by developing plans for co-authored publications and project applications.

Evgeny Dobrenko (University of Sheffield) to the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), Moscow (June 2013):

To strengthen research links, plan joint conferences and enhance knowledge exchange opportunities through collaboration with the Prokhorov Foundation (a charitable organisation that supports Russian literary and cultural studies).

Jeremy Morris (University of Birmingham) to HSE Moscow (August 2013):

To develop synergies based on different methodological procedures and theoretical assumptions in relation to interdisciplinary research on Russian labour relations, initiating and supporting the creation of a wider research network network on this topic.

Chris Davis (University of Oxford) to the Presidential Russian Academy of the National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Moscow (Nov. 2012-Sept. 2013):

To develop plans for collaboration between RANEPA and CEELBAS in the areas of research exchanges, postgraduate training and internships.

Adi Kuntsman (University of Manchester) to the University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Humanities (August 2013):

To develop the conceptual framework for a new research network on digital emotions and to plan various projects, electronic resources, events and funding applications around this theme.

To conduct a joint research project on the theme of ‘Negotiating cultural codes in the Fieldwork Research Context: A Study of Difference in Russian and English Interaction Patterns’.

Keja Anjaria (SOAS University of London) to Sehir University Istanbul (September 2013)

To plan a collaborative research project exploring theoretical and methodological approaches to Ottoman and Turkish literature.
